“Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak.” James 1:19
Listen More
It’s been said that a picture is worth a thousand words, but some people still prefer thousand words. Do you talk too much and listen too little? The next time you visit with your family, friends or others, keep track of how much time you talk and how much time you listen. You might say, “My friends or family won’t talk. If they don’t do talking, we will have a silent relationship.” Share that you really enjoy hearing from him/her and then ask some questions to “ prime the pump.”
Healthy relationships are built on good listening skills.
A great strategy to promote communication is to ask “open-ended questions.”
i.e.:
“What was the best part of your day?”
“Of all the places you have ever visited, what is your favorite?”
