Quite often, couples in the ministry become so involved in "giving to others" that their personal lives are neglected. They miss out on the first part of the biblical principle found in Matthew 10: 8b, "Freely you have received, freely give." In this spirit of ministry leaders freely receiving, the apostle Paul challenged the church with this message in Galatians 6: 6.
Galatians 6: 6 Retreats are held in various locations in the United States, Europe, and elsewhere and are provided through strategic partnerships with denominations, other ministries, individuals and Intimate Life Ministries and cosponsoring partners in an attempt to communicate that the "worker is worthy."
"Let the elders who rule well be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine."
(NKJV, I Timothy 5:17)
Long before Paul wrote those words to Timothy, Jesus entrusted the gospel ministry into the hands of the twelve disciples and declared them worthy of the support of those they would minister to:
"... Freely you have received, freely give. Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, or even two tunics, or sandals, or staff; for the worker is worthy of his support." |
